Every summer I choose a themed shoot event to put on for a nice affordable rate. This summer I did a session themed "water/sand" I had great response from clients and shot tons of different people. I had the opportunity to work with all sorts of body types and ages, from working women, expecting moms, collage students, and friends. Here are a few of my favorite images in no particular order. All were shot with natural light and have minimal editing.

Its seems like all my friends are having babies these days. Being surrounded with so many baby belly's my camera doesn't get much rest. This is one of my best friends Renee. She has been a long time model of mine and has sooo much versatility. We didn't want to just do traditional maternity pictures so we took her love for the outdoors and my love for natural light and this is what we got!

This little man is going to be a heart breaker! He was one of the most pleasent new borns I have ever shot. Infact I could proudly say the best. So well behaved. Didnt cry. Almost no mess.. because we all know there are many surprises that comes with new born photography.

Last summer I met an amazing couple who I clicked with right off the bat. These two are artistic, funny, smart and so layed back I don't know how anyone couldn't love being around them. They got married in Karrie's parents backyard which in my opinion deserves to be in a magazine. This family has the most beautiful gardens which made it a perfect location for such a fun filled wedding. These two had people fly in from war and wide to spend this special day with them and the intire day there was nothing but smiles and laughter.

So after seeing them for the first time play with The Creepshow I wondered how I could meet these guys and talk them into some photos. I realized I went to high school with the sax player and well . . . the lead singer/guitar player Brad is a pretty approachable guy. We chatted over some Star Bucks and decided that it would be in our best interst to team up and make some magic.

During of my stays in Toronto this summer I got the pleasure to meet a great couple my dad knows through work. Gordie and Sieeda are wonderful hosts and man can that women cook! Every time my father and i visit there is always a amazing 5 course meal made from scratch and it always hits the spot!

They have 3 amazing dogs who they call their children. All three are rescues and are very well loves. Also during my last visit I had the pleasure of meeting their sister [sister in law] who just had a beautiful little baby girl. Here is the little lady and one of there gorgeous dogs.

I met Jen a couple of months ago and knew right away she was a girl full of ideas. Her and Jason met up with Me and Warren out at her parents farm in the valley to shoot there engagement photos pin up style. We must have did about 4 or 5 different looks.

We played in sheep pens and got full of poo, then we played in a hay loft, with cows and got more full of poo. We chopped some wood with a hatchet and finally got a little more dressed up cleaned off the poo and romped in some flowers together. I

t was a beautiful day though windy everything went according to plan.

This is a couple I can't wait to shoot on there wedding day!

Yesterday I had a shoot with two models I was waiting to have in. One I had some history with from years ago and one was a new model to me. We got all dolled up and went outside and shot.

With flowers and very neutral colored wardrobe the shots came out just like I had them in my head.

The wind wasn't quite on our side but we worked with it anyway.

Had the pleasure of shooting another very new model to the Halifax fashion scene. We had a blast shooting in some great outfits outside and in.

We shot first outdoors in one of my favorite spots by my home in Bedford in a GREAT Lace mini dress from American Apparel and then came back to my home and shot a few more natural images of her in a custom dress from Deux Fm Clothing [Designer: Anna Kristina] This is the "Vienna" dress that I am happy to say I am the owner of. It is one of those pieces that looks amazing on anyone who wears it.

I had a spot open up last minute of Friday and my good friend Ellen jumped on board for a last minute shoot. We had nothing preplanned and we ended up winging the day. She showed up with two pin up style outfits and we lucked out way into shoot at the CHICKEN BURGER an antique style burger joint here in Bedford as well as getting access to some sweet cars from a garage down the street.

For a new model I think she really came out of her shell and rocked this set

First Time Model

Being a dance teacher as well as a photographer I often get to find some very promising modeling talent within my classes. This is a student of mine that used to dance for Maritime Dance Academy. She had come to me a few times asking my advice about getting into the modeling world and I think her first shoot was a great first step into her adventure.

A old high school friend of mine was expecting her second little one into the world and we originally tried to get her in for maternity shots, but as anyone out there that is a parent would know, her being 8-9 months pregnant with a 3 year old was a bit of a challenge to get her out of the house. So when little Austin made his appearance into this world we ended up being able to get together for a much needed new born session. And if course Hannah had to be in a couple shots too :D

I am happy to announce I have jumped out of my photography slump! I had been so bogged down with life and lack of weather to shoot in I fell of the radar for a bit there.

Miss Madison was over Sunday and was happy to go along with my strange and odd twist on a fashion shoot. We shot outside and then turned the whole set around to give her something very surreal and natural for her portfolio.

Gabbie Take 2

1 week later I had the gorgeous little Gabbie back in for more new born shots and some fun Christmas photos. It's always a pleasure to have moms that are so creative to work with. Sasha and I looked at each other after staring a a Christmas stocking and said "yeah lets do it" We pooped little Gabbie into the stocking and made some very festive little shots.

Fall colors

Fall is quickly coming to an end and winter is peaking around the corner . . . [NS got 2-5 cms of snow this morning] I can't say I was pleased to wake up to snow and slush but there's nothing we can do about it.

Here are a few photos I took while the leaves were still kicking around and we were getting rain and not snow.

Once and a while I like photographing things instead of people.

5 Mins of perfect light

I have to say my favorite time of day is when the sun is just about gone. It is as most photographers say "the magic hour" though it only lasts about 10 minutes. I was lucky enough to have Marietta answer a call for a fill in for a shoot yesterday in the nick of time. She showed up right away, great wardrobe in hand and ready to get started.

We all hopped into the Ranger and headed to a spot Warren scouted out for me and said I just would have to shoot there. Boy was he right!

Here are a few shots from yesterday, there will be more to come. These were all taken with the natural avaliable light.

Nothing fancy, just the way I like to shoot, simple and with no tricks. Enjoy!

This is what Warren and I did last night. He made some wonderfully color filled martini's for us and I just had to shoot them. I did a shot similar to these years ago with a strawberry splashing into a glass of fizzy 7-up so I figured I would revisit the technique and this is what I got.

I have to admit I am still in a bit of shock, one of my best friends just got married and it seemed like only yesterday we were running around in high school with our bright colored hair and hanging out in the corners of the hallways. It really is true what they say about love at first sight, at least I believe so. Ryan and Kelly were destined to spend the rest of there lives together from the moment they were put at the same place at the same time about 2 years ago.

Myself and a few of our photographer friends spent the weekend in Cape Breton to celebrate and shoot the Walker wedding. The weather opened up a perfect over cast day and everything went smoothly, even if I did end up doing the brides make-up and dressing her :)

Kelly is like a sister to me so I was more then honored when they accepted my offer to shoot the wedding and I loved being able to be a helping hand in the days activities too.

Recently I was contacted by a great couple Giselle and Rob who are getting married in Sept. We shot there engagement shoot at Point Pleasant Park a few days ago. This location meant a lot of Giselle especially because she grew up with the park being in her back yard and spent a lot of time there as a child.

This couple is just full of light and energy, and I look forward to shooting the wedding in a few weeks.

Warren and I just adopted a new snake into my family of reptiles. She is a 6 year old ball python and is approx. 4 - 4 1/2 feet long. He named her "Kii" after the Goddess of Earth in Sumerian Mythology. She is settling in slowly and was in a good enough mood today to let me take her out and get a few pictures.

Adventure #2

Warren and I decided to get away from everything for a few days. We road tripped over to NB Sat morning for a VW AUDI car gathering in Moncton. The original plan was to be up bright an early at 6am . . . and well we both slept in as you can see from my travel pics it certainly wasn't 6 when we finally got on the road. As per usual good ol' NS weather stayed with us for almost half the drive [rain and more rain] until we hit NB and the sun started to crack through the clouds. We enjoyed the afternoon checking out cars and basking in the sun. After we had enough of the show we went back to our hotel to enjoying swimming and relaxing for the rest of the day.

I have a thing for reflections :P

Sunday morning we did actually get up at 6 and get a move on. Went down for our complimentary breakfast where Warren ate EVERYTHING they had to offer , apparently he enjoys free stuff. After we hopped into the Ranger and were off to Truro for there Annual SHOW AND SHINE in the Truro race way. Again of course it was raining. This time the whole drive there. The rain cleared up when we arrived at 9am for the show to just open and the clouds and wind stuck around for a good couple hours.

When we first arrived n the race way there was a decent turn out of vehicles but it was certainly not full. We walked around and drooled over antiques and laughed at a few imports that just didn't belong for about 2 1/2 hours and had our fill. By the time we left the race was was almost full with cars still piling into the field. I took a few pans of the field and stitched 13 pics together to give you an idea of how full it was at 11:30, with cars still piling into the race way when we left [the show was running all day until 4]

Adventure #1

Warren and I are planning on making a weekly occurrence of our little adventures. I will post the pictures on my blog so everyone can follow along with our shenanigans.

We drove out to Chebucto Head on Sunday and climbed in and over rocks until sundown. Half of these were taken by me and half were taken by Warren, hes not a bad little photographer >.<

Someday I will have one as rusty and fast and amazing as this. Warren built and painted this model for me. Little bit of history on the thing. . .

My favorite car is a 1969 Shelby GT500 Mustang and it has to be GREEN. I also have a huge appreciation for beat up rusty muscle cars. So in saying all that you can imagine how impressed and surprised I was when he gave this to me.

Last week when a great model and good friend of mine asked me to shoot some entry portfolio pieces for her for applying to NASCAD I couldn't say no. Ann came to me on the perfect overcast day with 3 articles of clothing she sewed and we had a blast. In the images that follow Ann Ramsey is the model and designer. Two pieces were designed from patterns and the last one [the purple dress] is her first from scratch designed piece she has ever made. Enjoy!

I've been spending some time away from client photography and trying to remember what I love so much about shooting. I worked at it so much that it went from a passion to a job, and it was starting to loose its spark. Spending some time with old friends and bringing my camera to just shoot for fun has really started to make me feel alive again.

This is my stunning friend Katelyn Boudreau outside her house and sitting on my lovely MK4 VW Jetta >.<

We shot at sundown and the lighting was just beautiful the whole time. These were all shot with natural light.

A few new pictures of two of my critters, Enjoy

This is Rye

She is a 4 year old female Bearded Dragon, she is my little diva. Full of emotion and energy.

She enjoys basking in the sun, eating insects greens and berries and trying to lick anything that exists.

This is Shade

She is a 1 and a half year old Columbian Tegu

Columbian Tegu's have the reputation of being very agressive hard to tame reptiles. They are direct relitives to the Komodo Dragon. She will grow to be about the size of a small crocodile [4-6 feet long]

Shade is as tame as can be from constant care and attention from when she was just a hatching.

She is a meat eater, and a picky one at that

Hidden Talents . . .

Some of us have many hidden talents that we don't use or bring to the surface all that often. Having a broken camera and no ability to shoot at the moment I have caught myself digging through my archives from college and I came across some very pleasing vector work that I am quite proud of.

Never looked back at it and have not done one since but seeing these may inspire me to try again. Just need to find the right Muse. These are taken from a 9 piece series we had to do making celebrities into Playing Cards using vector art.

Started off the new year with a very cold but very fun short shoot with Miss Ann Ramsey. It was -13 with the windchill so we didn't stay out long but we certainly got a few frames I really liked. Hoping to get more back into shooting when the horrid cold goes away. Enjoy

Well I am soon signing off of everything for a week or 2. I have some time off and I am going to embrace it for all it is worth. Camera is going in to be serviced and I am going to do some serous file backing up. I have a new external hardrive so now I am set.

My friend Kelly and her beautiful little daughter Breonna came out to take some mommy and baby pictures the other day. With the help of Kelly's sister Shawna we were able to get a few precious faces out of little Bre. Kelly also took solo for a few frames in the session. Here are some pictures of what came of our afternoon at the park.

Also I ran into an old high school friend Alcisha who is currently about 8 months pregnant. After we spent some time catching up on tiime lost we got her dressed up and ventured out into the fall leaves for a few maternity pictures.

I spent some much long over due time sitting down and reading articles and watching videos on animal crulty and animal testing. I am realizing more and more how much this subject is ignored. To be 21 and never really making a life decision about such a thing can be quite a big jump. Luckly for me I dont own much along the lines of animal furs/leather other then a belt adn a few pair of shoes and the odd second hand leather jacket.

As a female I wonder sometimes what I am putting on my face in terms of make up. One the most popular and most well known brand of "professional" make up out there among teens and young adults is MAC.

I am really starting to realize how pore online community sites are done. The restrictions they put on things like posting images, and copyright infringements are just enough to make anyone turn away from a computer. Facebook is probably currently the worst for this issue. I've heard that sites like Flickr are coming in a close second. I used to be a part of many online art communities and now I am being very careful where i post my images and always ensuring they have my watermark on them to stop anyone from taking them without permission.

I am trying to decide just how I want to redesign my site to cater to all the different types of clients I am trying to draw in. It gets to be a tad confusing after a while.

Here are a few images from the Charity Fashion Show I shot at Pier 21 a few nights ago.

I am hoping to arrange some more creative shoots to add some new work to my portfolio soon. I just need to track down the right models. Off to searching I go!
